Our Process
1. Tell Us About Your Project
Start by calling us or submitting a quote request. We aim to respond within one business day to arrange a conversation about your project.
We’ll discuss what you want to accomplish, your location, budget, desired timing, and whether we’re a good fit. If an on-site consultation is needed, we’ll schedule a time to meet.
2. On-Site Consultation
We’ll walk the site with you, review the proposed work, and discuss materials, layout, expectations, and budget.
We’ll also take measurements, photos, and notes to prepare your estimate. For an existing deck, we’ll evaluate the accessible structure and discuss whether repairs, resurfacing, or rebuilding make sense. Some hidden conditions may only become visible after demolition.
Before leaving, we’ll let you know the next steps and when to expect your estimate.
3. Estimate or Project Planning
The amount of planning depends on the project’s complexity.
Straightforward Projects — Free Estimate
If the scope is clear and requires minimal design or outside coordination, we’ll prepare a free, detailed estimate. These typically take one to three business days, although supplier pricing or additional research may require more time.
Projects Needing Additional Planning — Preconstruction
If your project requires substantial layout development, material comparisons, or subcontractor pricing, we may propose a paid preconstruction agreement.
We’ll explain the fee and included services before starting. If you move forward with construction, the agreed retainer will be credited toward your project.
Projects Requiring Formal Plans — Plan Development
For projects requiring architectural drawings, engineering, or permitting support, we can connect you with a design professional we work with.
4. Review Your Proposal
Your proposal will outline the scope of work, material selections, pricing, exclusions, payment schedule, and estimated construction duration. Any allowances or work billed on a time-and-materials basis will be identified.
We can review it with you in person or by phone, and we welcome questions and revisions. If you want to adjust materials, change the layout, or explore ways to meet your budget, we’ll help compare the options.
There is no pressure to decide on the spot. We encourage you to get multiple quotes and choose the contractor you feel most comfortable with. After sending your proposal, we give you time to review it without repeated sales calls or messages. If you’d like us to follow up, we’re happy to arrange a date.
When you’re ready to proceed, sign and return the proposal.
5. Project Kick-Off
Once the proposal is accepted, we’ll confirm outstanding selections, required approvals, payment milestones, and scheduling.
We’ll send the applicable deposit invoice and coordinate planning and material ordering according to your agreement. Start dates may depend on permitting, material availability, weather, and completion of preceding work.
Before construction, we’ll review site access, parking, work hours, restroom arrangements, and any preparation needed from you.
6. Construction
Our crew will complete the agreed work and keep you informed about progress and upcoming steps. For projects lasting several days, we aim to provide daily updates.
If we uncover hidden damage or you request additional work, we’ll explain the impact on scope, cost, and schedule and document the change for approval before proceeding with that additional work.
7. Final Walkthrough & Completion
When the agreed work is complete, we’ll arrange a final walkthrough with you. Any remaining items will be documented on a punch list, with a clear plan for completion.
We’ll also review relevant care instructions and warranty information and send the final invoice according to the payment terms in your agreement.
Our goal is a finished project you feel confident in—and a process where you know what to expect.
