Deck Renovation
For this project, we were brought in to take over and complete a deck build that had been started by another contractor. We began by removing the partially installed decking to ensure the final product met our standards for quality and longevity.
To prepare the structure for a clean, seamless finish, we installed additional blocking to support a picture-framed border. This eliminated visible groove ends and removed the need for butt joints, resulting in a much more refined appearance. We also added mid-span blocking and blocking over the beam to significantly improve the overall stability of the deck. All newly installed blocking was properly taped to protect it from moisture and extend the deck’s lifespan.
Once the framing upgrades were complete, we installed the picture-framed border along with the field decking. We also integrated wall flashing for improved water management and replaced the lower section of the house siding to ensure a clean and watertight connection between the deck and the home.
The homeowner chose Deckorators® composite decking, which provides a durable, low-maintenance, and visually appealing finish.
